NCACs New Blacklist Targets Pirate Firms

[ Time:2007-2-12  Author:  Editor:  From:chinatechnews

Local media report that the National Copyright Administration of China will join hands with other concerned government departments to carry out a special campaign to beat online piracy.

Because many phishing, spamming, and pirate software websites frequently change their domain names in order not to be identified, NCAC says it will set up a blacklist mechanism to track those websites' illegal behaviors. The blacklist will try to collect as much information as possible about each pirate organization, including individuals' names, mailing addresses, IP addresses, and any usernames used online.

However, local media doubt that the blacklist alone will work effectively, and some reports suggest that the government increase enforcement and punishments for counterfeit and pirated software.
