China Mobile Bidding Draws To An End

The time period for bidding in China Mobile's (CHL) TD-SCDMA process is coming to an end.

China Mobile issued a TD-SCDMA bidding book worth billions of dollars to ten equipment suppliers, and the bidding ends next Monday.

China Mobile's TD network equipment consists of a core network and a wireless network. Ericsson, Nokia, ZTE, Shanghai Bell-Alcatel and Huawei will compete for the core network, while XinYouTong, FiberHome Technologies, Datang Mobile, ZTE, Potevia, TD Tech, Shanghai Bell-Alcatel and Ericsson will join the bidding for the wireless network.

TD is the 3G technology standard raised by China and it is hoped to become one of the three mainstream international 3G standards. China Mobile is responsible for the TD test network construction in the eight Chinese cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Shenyang, Qinghuangdao, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Xiamen.
